John has over 18 years’ experience of working in regulation, and has designed and implemented regulatory systems across different countries and sectors.

After 11 years working on introducing a truly principles based approach to regulation at the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, John is now Regulatory Supervision Manager at the Council for Licensed Conveyancers. Working with regulated practices to assist them to remain compliant with the CLC Code and requirements across all aspects of their business. John believes strongly in a collaborative, supportive approach to regulation.

Our regulatory approach is designed to support client-focused and innovative property lawyers. We proceed on the basis that prevention is better than cure and use a wide range of approaches and tools to support CLC Practices, ensure compliance and take corrective or disciplinary action where it is necessary. This session will explore how we work alongside practices to support them to provide modern legal services that benefit consumers.
