Robert qualified as a Building Surveyor and member of the RICS in 1986 and has over 25 years experience in the industry.
In 2009 Robert set up his own practice focusing on pre-purchase surveys of residential property, with a specific emphasis on period and listed buildings, giving advice not only on the overall condition, but also on the holistic approach that should be taken in the management, repair and maintenance of such structures, and also on any potential non-conformant alterations and repairs that might have been carried out by previous owners. Robert regularly give talks to a variety of organisations and professionals on these matters.
Desbruslais Chartered Surveyors is a member of SPAB, The Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings.
Property Construction & Defects: what clients need you to know
If conveyancers are to advise clients appropriately, they require an understanding of survey reports, knowledge of building construction, common defects and issues surrounding Listed Buildings. This seminar will provide a foundation on basic construction, typical defects, the differences between a building survey and homebuyer’s report and which is appropriate to various buildings, an understanding of the reports and when to advise specialist inspections, if at all.
